This morning before waking
my head resting
on your shoulder
my arm curved around
your breast
my hand holding
your hand
my palms still
tingling in your sweat
seeping into mine
my thumping chest
kisses you goodbye.
Then shuffling away
under the stars I
raise not my eyes
to the sky too frightened
to look up in case
these lights disappear
and I’d be lost to her
endless mystery.
