for George Monbiot
Little man
don’t waste your time with big questions
the world is ruled by giants
so powerful so different
to your kind
to you and your single celled
hermitage to honesty
Little man
it’s best to leave important questions
to them who possess the gods
within their divine right,
with their many-headed, mouthed
and stomached harvesters onward into space,
triumphant, yet mindless of
our planet’s sell by date
Little man
though you are beneath them
do not feel foolish scurrying
among the jungle stalks of human
knowledge,
you must make life and death decisions;
with hungry hearts and an instinct for love,
for your fellow man
Little man
if it’s change you want
best remember the marketing rules
of a new world democracy;
best make it attractive
to voters
to hold them in sway
where democracy is no more
than a majority vote
to outlaw free speech;
once done
cannot be undone.
