Pubescent Love Poem

I wonder what happened
to Justine C
I wonder if she thinks of me
I fell for her innocently
And she felt something good
About me

We’d sit together we could
In double history once a week
Hip to hip, never saying a word
Though we shared
Our secret world

I was slim, searching and fast as a cat
She was blue-eyed, 16
clever and happy-go-lucky
with puppy fat

For a term we acted this play
Till in class she kissed me that way
Then said “We cannot be one”
My life wasn’t ready
To come undone

And soon I’ll be forty-three
And so will she
I wonder if she thinks of me
I wonder what happened to
Justine C.

A dialectical site of poetry, painting and the odd musical excursion into the unknown.
