In The Here and Now

Her beautiful mind does
Stop my thoughts
Dead in their tracks
In the here and now.

All I hear is a screech
Then all is quiet
the birds hush down
In summertime air
Our seats don’t move
Yet we are moved
To make sense of it
By our fingertips.

As passengers carry on
Passing us by I notice
the light inside her
That shapes those eyes
And a smile that only
A child could have borne
In mountains too high
For clouds to form.

Her beautiful mind does
Stop my thoughts
Dead in their tracks
In the here and now.
